The Road From Elephant Pass on Silver Screen

From Lankapuvath National News Agency of Sri Lanka

The premiere of the most awaited movie The Road From Elephant Pass was held yesterday in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The film was shot in locations Kalpitiya, Puttlam, Maho and Udappu in sixty-eight days, unveils the love story between a LTTE cadre and a Sri Lankan Army captain.

A two minute silence was observed in memory of Nihal de Silva who wrote the story. Nihal de Silva died tragically in a claymore landmine explosion by the LTTE at Wilpattu National Park in May 2006.

Producer and Director of the film Chandran Rutnam said that this film was something he always wanted to produce as the book was accepted by the general public and also won the Gratiaen Prize for literature in 2003 and it was a pity that the author was not alive to see the final outcome of the movie.

"The film sends an important message to a world torn apart by religious and political agendas that love breaks all barriers and that 'Might is not right, but Might 'for' right always works" said Associate Producer of the film Alston Koch.

The cast of the movie includes Joe Abeywickreme, Sanath Gunatileke, Iranganie Serasinghe, Veena Jayakody and a new couple, Ashan Dias & Suranga Ranawaka in the main roles.
